Current Projects
Several aircraft are currently in the process of being restored, and this Vietnam-ear warbird is right behind the Saberliner.
LTV/Vought RF-8 Crusader
What is known about this aircraft:
Originally designated: Vought F8U-1P Crusader. Redesignated RF-8A in 1962. 145607 was at Edwards AFB, CA. before coming to Castle.
Our hard working restoration crew has some wants and needs for projects they are now moving towards completion. We are looking for:
Any interior items for Douglas R5D (C-54) such as crew compartment furnishings, passenger compartment galley, lavatory, etc.
Any and all interior items for B-24M. Ours has no bomb racks as it spent many years as a cargo hauler before being restored to bomber configuration.
We need a number of things for the restoration of a Convair TF-102 - nose radome, landing gear, wheels and tires, tail cone, tail pipe/afterburner, instrument panel, seats.
If you know of any source for any of these items, please contact us. Email: castleairmuseum (at) clearwire.net or camrestore (at) clearwire.net. Restoration dept. phone: (209) 723-1180.
We can always use more volunteers in the Restoration Dept. Besides the current projects, the restoration crew also works with the crew chiefs to maintain the aircraft collection. We can use all types of skills and we'll even help you learn new ones.
