Douglas B-18 Bolo #37-0029

Douglas B-18 Bolo

Years In Service: 1936-1946

Initial Flight: April 1935

The Douglas B-18 Bolo was an American medium bomber that served during the late 1930s and early 1940s. Despite being rather outclassed at the opening of World War II, B-18 bombers were still serviceable platforms utilized to train up-and-coming bomber crews in the nuances of large aircraft flight and level bombing while acclimating to high-altitude travel.  The B-18 was the first American aircraft to sink a German U-boat submarine (in Caribbean waters) on August 22, 1942.
